When you get a purple heart then do you see the purple event: harvest moon ds cute?

Ok so I have been giving Skye toiletries(dress earings sunblock ext. ) every night and no purple heart I have been giving them to him for almost a whole year im in winter so do I have to experience the purple heart event to get the purple heart?
